Program Outline

Progression

All new applicants become Probationary Junior Members and are first introduced to the Club through the Sunday morning program where their skill level is assessed by the Junior Co-ordinator or Golf Professional.  Subject to the initial assessment, all new applicants will commence with the 4-hole program and gradually work through to 7 holes then 9 holes.

When a Junior reaches the 9 hole ability (as assessed), they may play on Sunday mornings within the allocated Junior Time Slots.  This is their opportunity to attain the ability to play 18 holes of golf.  Probationary Juniors may use this opportunity to apply for and obtain a Golf Australia handicap, which is required to play in Club and other Inter Club competitions.  A Golf Australia handicap may only be held by a Junior Member and can not be held by a Probationary Junior Member.  This means that a Probationary Junior must apply for acceptance as a Junior Member, which would involve a payment of an Entrance Fee (one-off payment) and a higher annual subscription (refer above for current prices or contact the Office for more information).

Advanced AGU Junior Members are eligible for selection in the Pennant and Inter Club Pennant Teams which compete annually in District competitions in early January.  Team uniform is awarded upon selection.

Aspiring Elite Juniors will be eligible for recommendation to the Gold Coast District Golf Assocaition (GCDGA) annual training program.  This program is funded by the GCDGA.
